Milan Botani aka Meylê
Oppveksten min formet nysgjerrigheten på tilhørighet og identitet. Jeg vokste opp på Holmlia i Oslo som førstegenerasjonsinnvandrer fra Kurdistan. Selv om jeg senere har bodd på Frogner, St. Hanshaugen, Bislett, Tøyen, Vålerenga og Sørenga, er hjertet mitt fortsatt på Holmlia.
Det flerkulturelle har formet meg som person, men også i mitt arbeid. Jeg vil få frem historiene til ulike mennesker, uansett bakgrunn og etnisitet.
Høsten 2025 lanserte jeg Pomm Magazine. Et magasin med fokus på steder, smaker, stil og rom, men med kulturhistorisk blikk. Magasinet vil stille spørsmål, gå dypere og forklare hvorfor ting er som de er. Eksempelvis: hvor kommer den matretten fra? Hva er greia med keramikk-hypen nå? Hvorfor har det blitt trendy å røyke igjen?
Samtidig startet jeg nettbutikk under merkenavnet Meylê, et kallenavn fra barndommen. I dag rommer det håndlagde smykker, klær og tilbehør i små opplag med fokus på gjenbruk.
Jeg henter mye inspirasjon fra popkultur, kurdisk kultur, kunst og reiser.
I over ti år jobbet jeg i Nettavisens kommersielle avdeling som prosjektleder og skribent, med ansvar for blant annet reise og mote. Jeg har også erfaring fra app-redigering i Dagbladet og praksis fra Cosmopolitan Norge. Min utdanningsbakgrunn er bachelor i kulturhistorie fra UiO og journalistikk fra OsloMet, samt fagbrev som motekonsulent fra NKI i Oslo (tidligere Utdanningshuset og School of Fashion Industry).

My upbringing shaped my curiosity about belonging and identity. I grew up in Holmlia, Oslo, as a first-generation immigrant from Kurdistan. Although I have since lived in Frogner, St. Hanshaugen, Bislett, Tøyen, Vålerenga and Sørenga, my heart is still in Holmlia.
Growing up in a multicultural environment has shaped who I am, but it has also influenced my work. I want to bring forward the stories of different people, regardless of their background or ethnicity.
In autumn 2025, I launched Pomm Magazine, a magazine focusing on places, food, style and spaces through a cultural history lens. Pomm aims to ask questions, dig deeper and explore why things are the way they are. For example: Where does a particular dish come from? What is behind the current ceramics craze? Why has smoking become trendy again?
Around the same time, I launched an online shop under the name Meylê, a childhood nickname. Today, Meylê includes handmade jewellery, clothing and accessories produced in small quantities, with a focus on reuse and upcycling.
I draw a lot of inspiration from pop culture, Kurdish culture, art and travel.
For more than ten years, I worked in the commercial department at Nettavisen as a project manager and writer, with responsibility for areas including travel and fashion. I also have experience with app editing at Dagbladet and completed an internship at Cosmopolitan Norway.
My educational background includes bachelor’s degrees in Cultural History from the University of Oslo and Journalism from OsloMet, as well as a qualification in fashion consulting from the School of Fashion Industry in Oslo.
